Nestled in the heart of the Dolomites, it offers a variety of routes that will allow you to explore the mountain in a unique way: scenic trails, breathtaking descents and roads connecting some of the area’s most iconic sites.
Here are some recommendations!
1. Cinque Torri loop
Difficulty: Medium
Length: Approx. 15 km
Description: This loop route takes you to the famous Cinque Torri, an area with history and great views. The route consists of forest trails and dirt roads, offering an extraordinary view of the “Towers” and surrounding peaks. It is perfect for those who love cycling and history, with the possibility of stopping by at World War One trenches.
2. Falzarego Pass – Lagazuoi Refuge
Difficulty: Hard
Length: Approx. 9 km
Description: If you are looking for an uphill challenge, the route connecting the Falzarego Pass to the Lagazuoi Refuge is one for you. It is a challenging climb, but once you reach the refuge, one of the most spectacular views of the Dolomites is yours. On the descent, there is the choice of a paved road or a dirt path, depending on your level of experience.
3. Monte Averau loop
Difficulty: Medium
Length: Approx. 12 km
Description: This route will take you to Mount Averau, traversing forest paths and trails that offer a complete mountain bike experience, with technically demanding stretches and heart-stopping descents. It is ideal for those looking for a bike trip that also offers a bit of adrenaline, but without being too demanding. The view of the surrounding peaks is magnificent, with views of Monte Civetta, Monte Pelmo and the other peaks of the Dolomites.
4. Alta Via route
Difficulty: Hard

Description: The Alta Via is an epic route that traverses the highest peaks of the Dolomites, and is one for more experienced cyclists. The Falzarego Pass is one of the main gateways to this route, which can be adapted according to the level of difficulty and distances you want. The route offers breathtaking views, passing close to alpine refuges, lunar landscapes and steep valleys.
5. The Great Dolomites Road (SS48)
Difficulty: Easy/Medium
Length: Variable (20 – 100km)
Description: If you prefer a more subdued cycling experience, you can take the Great Dolomites Road (SS48), which connects various mountain passes, including the Falzarego Pass. This paved road allows you to enjoy enchanting natural landscapes, with views of the Dolomite peaks, passing through typical villages and towns, such as Cortina d’Ampezzo. It is ideal for those looking for a less technical cycling experience but a full immersion in the beauty of the mountains.
